Humor: The light side of life... Picabo
The famous Olympic skier, Picabo Street (pronounced Peek-a-Boo), is not just an athlete; she is now a nurse currently working at the Intensive Care Unit of a large metropolitan hospital. She is not permitted to answer the hospital telephones any longer. It caused too much confusion when she would answer the phone and say . . . Picabo, I.C.U.

AND, AND, AND... A Motivational Story
Peeking out from the corner of my desk blotter is a note, slowly yellowing and bent from time. It is a card from my mother, containing only four sentences. In it, she praises my abilities as a writer without qualification.
Each sentence is full with love, offering specific examples of what my pursuit has meant to her and my father. The word "but" never appears on the card; however the word "and" is there almost a half dozen times.
Every time I read it -- which is almost every day -- am reminded to ask myself if I am doing the same thing for my daughters. I've asked myself how many times I've "but-ted" them, and me, out of happiness. I hate to say that it's more often than I'd like to admit.
Although our eldest daughter usually got all A's on her report card, there was never a semester when at least one teacher would not suggest that she talked too much in class. I always forgot to ask them if she was making improvement in controlling her behavior, if her comments contributed to the discussion in progress or encouraged a quieter child to talk. Instead, I would come home and greet her with, "Congratulations! Your Dad and I are very proud of your accomplishment, but could you try to tone it down in class?"
The same was true of our younger daughter. Like her sister, she is a lovely, bright, articulate and friendly child. She also treats the floor of her room and the bathroom as a closet, which has provoked me to say on more than one occasion, "Yes, that project is great, but clean up your room!"
I've noticed that other parents do the same thing. "Our whole family was together for Christmas, but Kyle skipped out early to play his new computer game." "The hockey team won, but Mike should have made that last goal." "Amy's the homecoming queen, but now she wants $200 to buy a new dress and shoes." But, but, but.
Instead, what I learned from my mother is that if you really want love to flow to your children, start thinking "and, and, and..." instead. For example: "Our whole family was together for Christmas dinner, and Kyle mastered his new computer game before the night was through." "The hockey team won, and Mike did his best the whole game." "Amy's the homecoming queen, and she's going to look gorgeous!"
The fact is that "but" feels bad -- "and" feels good. And when it comes to our children, feeling good is definitely the way to go. When they feel good about themselves and what they are doing, they do more of it, building their self-confidence, their judgment and their harmonious connections to others. When everything they say, think or do is qualified or put down in some way, their joy sours and their anger soars.
This is not to say that children don't need or won't respond to their parents' expectations. They do and they will, regardless of whether those expectations are good or bad. When those expectations are consistently bright and positive and then are taught, modeled and expressed, amazing things happen. "I see you made a mistake. And I know you are intelligent enough to figure out what you did wrong and make a better decision next time." Or, "You've been spending hours on that project, and I'd love to have you explain it to me." Or, "We work hard for our money, and I know you can help figure out a way to pay for what you want."
It's not enough just to say we love our children. In a time when frustration has grown fierce, we can no longer afford to limit love's _expression. If we want to tone down the sound of violence in our society, we're going to have to turn up the volume on noticing, praising, guiding and participating in what is right with our children.
"No more buts!" is a clarion call for joy. It's also a challenge, the opportunity fresh before us every day to put our attention on what is good and promising about our children, and to believe with all our hearts that they will eventually be able to see the same in us and the people with whom they will ultimately live, work and serve.
And if I ever forget, I have my mother's note to remind me.

Turn Your Dreams Into Reality...Literally!
The mind does not make an appearance within physical reality, but the brain is based in physical reality, and likewise our dreams occupy the same space as the mind…..that is, no space at all. The images that appear in dreams appear as “forms” in other realities and they are not restricted by our physical reality rules of time, space and growth. They involve the materialization of spontaneous constructions which would normally not occur in our physical world. Dreams are a continuous flowing process which run continuously in the wide awake and the dream states. While we are in the wide awake state they run subconsciously. The materializations we create in our dreams have no mass in our physical reality but may have the equivalent of mass in other realities. In the dream state the personality is molded and changed via actions that do not exist in the physical universe. These dream based subjective events eventually manipulate physical matter and events for the individual concerned, depending upon how they have consciously or subconsciously programmed their dreams. One persons dream affects another’s and that person is in turn affected by the neighbor’s dreams. In many cases dreams (in slightly different formats) are shared by two or more people and in some cases close-knit communities have shared mass dreams. SETH says that we have “mass” dreams that occur just above the level relating to the collective unconscious. If we are able to tune in to these dreams (and some individuals can) we would gain an impression of what our society is collectively dreaming…..which would then give us an indication of future events, as our dreams format our future, both individually and collectively. Sometimes these collective dreams contain enough power to significantly alter the future, for better or for worse. It is interesting to note that the dreams of one very powerful individual can affect the dreams of thousands of other people and this type of individual is capable of becoming a leader or “Guru”. They generally become known in the dream state first and are recognized in the physical world later. Through very intense emotional focus you can create a form then project it to another person who may then perceive it. This may be done consciously or unconsciously. The presence of this form can now be detected by sensitive scientific instruments. During the dreaming state your awareness is focused in another reality that is in every way as permanent and valid as the physical reality universe. During sleep only a small amount of your energy is focused in the physical field…..enough to maintain the bodily functions only. The dream universe is also composed of a molecular structure, but takes up no space as we know it. It is continuous but your awareness of it is normally limited to your sleep/dreaming periods. The events in the dream reality are as meaningful as the events in your physical world and indeed are interrelated. One affects the other…..and vice versa. This is why it is possible (and extremely easy) to program up dreams which have an almost immediate effect in your physical universe. One of the easiest and most effective types of dream that you can pre-program relates to your physical health. Sometimes a correctly programmed dream can cause almost miraculous improvements to your health in as little as 12 hours. Think Right Now! Series: Be A Spinner, Not A Sinner
Some time ago, in the last six months or so I guess, I got an e- mail from a guy who was, mmmmmm... p*ssed off at my positive attitude about everything. He called me the King and Spin, because I try to find a positive meaning for seemingly negative events. I remember looking up his client record and saw he'd been a subscriber for about four years and hadn't invested in even one of our programs... never once attempting to truly learn what the most successful people in all areas of life know. Well, in so many areas and disciplines of life I do know exactly how successful people think... I do know the attitudes of success... And I do my best to believe what the most accomplished, happy people believe. And so, after 20 years of putting in gold and platinum thoughts, not very much gets me upset, even when things are going horribly. Every problem is simply another hurdle to get over, get around or go through on the way to where I'm going. For example, earlier this year I lost about $200,000 from a few poor decisions and some extraordinarily unfortunate circumstances outside of my control. But when it was all over, I simply close the book and without shedding a single tear, immediately (and I mean within minutes) began planning and setting new and bigger goals in a new area, which is already paying off handsomely. That is part of what thinking right or right-thinking is about... ... being able to learn everything you can out of every success in every failure. It's about letting go of the bad stuff you just don't have to feel pain so deeply, you know. It's about feeling incredible pleasure and joy even from the smallest little victories and accomplishments. So, I guess I'll just continue spinning away, not feeling agony over defeats (just learning from them) and getting incredible joy from everything that's good and appreciating it all. And I'll just keep setting bigger and bigger goals which will all be accomplished. That is what I get from listening to, reading and writing Think Right Now repatterning statements. And frankly, in my opinion it is the worst kind of sin not to try to make the most out of the incredible minds that we've all been given... because you know that the human mind has the unique ability to turn heaven into hell and hell into heaven. In most situations, it's really our choice. If you'd like to be able to release your sorrows and hurts quickly and effortlessly and if you'd like to be able to see the good wherever it is, enabling you to take whatever action that will get you where you want to go, get over to Think Right Now! and read it and then invest in yourself. Do what you need to do to be the best YOU that you can be.
Love,
Mike Brescia

Your Health is Your Wealth: Take the Meditation Challenge: How to Develop the "Habit" of Meditation and Live from the Inside Out.
Gandhi said, “Peace, to be real, must be unaffected by outer circumstances.” What if you could truly experience inner peace regardless of what’s going on externally? How would it FEEL to…
Most of us would like to experience true inner peace and the joy that comes from living in the moment. Most of us would like to be free from our incessant mind activity. Yet many of us don’t know how. Or, we know how but haven’t quite “mastered” living from the inside out. Meditation is the key to experiencing true inner peace. I know we’ve all heard this. Yet how many of us meditate on a daily basis? Maybe you do meditate on a regular basis. For those of you who do meditate already, how many of you feel that your life is a "living meditation?" You meditate while you’re waiting at a doctor’s office, while doing daily activities, while talking with others? Honestly, I’ve been writing and speaking about inner peace for years and am aware of the benefits of meditation. Yet I had not fully developed the daily practice of meditation, until recently. Now, my life IS a meditation. I want to share with you the practices and resources I’ve used to make the transition from meditating once every month or so and being a “victim” to my thoughts, to having my life “be” a living meditation and become an “observer” of my thoughts. Before I share with you the missing piece to develop the “habit” of meditation, along with the various practices and techniques, I want to share with you an experience I had recently. FREEDOM FROM THOUGHT, LIVING FULLY IN THE MOMENT I was at the grocery store buying groceries. I was fully in the moment. I was sort of in a trance state, though I didn’t label it as this until afterward when I reflected back on the experience. Anyway, I was fully in the moment, shopping for groceries. EVERYONE that walked by me, smiled at me. I smiled back and didn’t give it much thought (again until afterward). It wasn’t just one person that smiled at me, literally everyone that passed me, smiled. Everyone was so friendly. Then I walked outside and noticed the beautiful sky. I noticed the friendly people, the pavement, the colors of the cars in the parking lot, the feel of the breeze in the air. Then suddenly a thought rushed into my mind, “You haven’t been thinking for a long time.” I had a thought that came in that told me that I wasn’t thinking! It was amazing. I had been free from thought for quite a while, fully present in the moment, in complete peace and joy while grocery shopping! And that’s what meditation does for you. It helps you become the observer of things going on externally, while your awareness is completely inside. You eventually even become the observer of your own thoughts! (Instead of the reactor). What freedom! And it’s all because I have developed the “habit” of meditation. My life is a meditation. And here’s how I did it… I'd like to invite you to take the MEDITATION CHALLENGE and develop the "habit" of meditation. Here's how: 1) Meditate daily for 21 days. In order to develop the habit of meditation and reap the benefits, you MUST: Commit to meditating every day for 21 days. It has been proven that it takes 21 days to make a habit. If you want to develop the “habit” of meditation and reap the wonderful benefits, you MUST commit to meditating daily for 21 days. 2) Get a partner. Now, for me, accountability is a HUGE factor, so I started a 21 day meditation circle via teleconference from the comfort of your own home. And you can do it on your own (with one other person). Get together with a friend, partner, spouse or colleague and commit to 21 days of meditation. If you try to do it on your own, you’ll most likely come up with excuses or get to busy, but when you have others that have committed to the same practice, you’re more likely to succeed. Find a time that works for you and commit to it. Schedule the time and put it on your calendar for the next 21 days. Amazingly, you can do it over the phone. Don’t let location be a factor for committing to the practice of meditation. You may want to sign a “commitment form.” (I ask people participating in the meditation circle to sign a commitment form of their intent. If for some reason they have to miss the call, they agree to listen to the replay line or meditate on their own independently. This really sets the intention to develop the habit of meditation). The great thing about having a partner or joining a circle is that it holds you accountable. If you know that other people have made that commitment WITH you, you are more likely to show up, even on days when your mind says that you’re too busy to meditate. (And there will be days when your ego doesn’t want you to meditate…) So the most important step to develop the habit of meditation is to hold yourself accountable to meditate daily for 21 days. And you have a greater chance of succeeding if you join a circle or find a partner or two. YOUR 21 DAY MEDITATION PROGRAM The following are suggestions to start your 21 day meditation practice: FIRST 6 DAYS For the first 6 days of your 21 day journey you may want to oscillate between the THREE techniques for accessing your inner essence described below. A “facilitator” will gently facilitate this process by asking the questions and reminding you to focus on your breathing. TECHNIQUE #1 Observe your breathing. Just feel your breath on the inhale and exhale. Feel your belly rise and lower as you inhale and exhale. Feel the air move in and out of your body. Try this for 15 minutes. If a thought comes to mind, just notice it, release it and go back to observing your breath. TECHNIQUE #2 The question that I use to access my inner essence, as suggested by Eckhart Tolle author of the Power of Now, is: “Without touching or moving my right foot, how do I know my right foot exists?” Then just feel the energy of your right foot. Or it can be your right hand, or your left hand, or your left foot. See if you can bring your awareness toward feeling your inner body. You can start at different locations throughout your body. Then see if you can FEEL your whole inner body. This is a powerful meditation. I can feel my body tingle with aliveness when I do this meditation. TECHNIQUE #3 This question has been used by Eastern practitioners and is another way of accessing your inner body, or inner essence.“What’s going on inside my body?”Just feel the energy of your inner body. If a thought comes to mind, ask the question again, and just FEEL the energy of your inner essence. AFTER DAY 6 After day 6, you’ll want to try adding SILENT meditations to your 21 day practice. You’ll basically just set a meditation timer for 15 minutes and use one of the three techniques on your own to access your inner body. It’s pretty powerful meditating with a group over the phone, because even when it’s “silent” you know that your meditation partners are with you doing the same thing! Then you can always go back to basics by using one of the three techniques, then doing a silent meditation and so forth. AROUND DAY 10: BECOMING THE OBSERVER You’ll want to incorporate this technique at about day 10 or shortly after. A wonderful technique to help you keep your awareness inside while still focusing on externals is to do one of the inner body techniques suggested above, and then half way through ask your partners to open their eyes and look around the room while feeling their inner body. And you may want to try this more and more toward the end of your 21 day circle. This helps us to practice “observing” things while keeping our attention within. Eventually, we get to the point where we become the observer of even our thoughts. So we’re less reactive to them and we’re more of the “watcher” of our thoughts. After day 10, you’ll want to challenge yourself and your partner, (I do this with the meditation circle participants) to meditate frequently throughout the day. Start observing and doing things with your awareness inward. Feel your inner body and its’ aliveness, while doing the dishes, grocery shopping, waiting at a doctor’s appointment. Again, it doesn’t require thought. Just observe things with your awareness fully directed inward. So you’re observing things externally, while your awareness is focused within.Even when you’re “doing” things, be fully present. So that you are aware of your inner body while you’re doing any activity. (You may even want to try a meditation for 15 minutes with your eyes fully open, while keeping your awareness within. REAPING THE REWARDS The greatest reward from developing the habit of meditation is that you live your life from the inside out. You become the “observer” instead of the “reactor.” You begin to fully experience joy, peace and love in each moment and you become free from incessant mind activity.
