Next Thursday at 10:30 Halleys Comet will appear over this area. This is an event which occurs only once every 75 years. Notify all directors and have them arrange for all employees to assemble on the Company lawn and inform them of the occurrence of this phenomenon. If it rains, cancel the day’s observation and assemble in the auditorium to see a film about the comet.

By order of the Executive Vice President, next Thursday at 10:30 , Halleys Comet will appear over the Company lawn. If it rains, cancel the day’s work and report to the auditorium with all employees where we will show films: a phenomenal event which occurs every 75 years.

By order of the phenomenal Vice President, at 10:30 next Thursday, Halleys Comet will appear in the auditorium. In case of rain over the Company lawn, the Executive Vice President will give another order, something which occurs only every 75 years.
MEMO From: Department Chief To: Section Chiefs
Next Thursday at 10:30 the Executive Vice President will appear in the auditorium with Halleys Comet, something which occurs every 75 years. If it rains, the Executive Vice President will cancel the comet and order us all out to our phenomenal Company lawn.

When it rains next Thursday at 10:30 over the Company lawn, the phenomenal 75 year old Executive Vice President will cancel all work and appear before all employees in the auditorium accompanied by Bill Halley and his Comets.

Hang On To Each Other

Too often we feel alone. But there is always someone ready to take our hand. There is a beautiful story of an overworked nurse who escorted a tired, young man to her patient's bedside. Leaning over and speaking loudly to the elderly patient, she said, "Your son is here."
With great effort, his unfocussed eyes opened, then flickered shut again. The young man squeezed the aged hand in his and sat beside the bed. Throughout the night he sat there, holding the old man's hand and whispering words of comfort.
By morning's light, the patient had died. In moments, hospital staff swarmed into the room to turn off machines and remove needles. The nurse stepped over to the young man's side and began to offer sympathy, but he interrupted her.
"Who was that man?" he asked.
The startled nurse replied, "I thought he was your father!" "No, he was not my father," he answered. "I never saw him before in my life."
"Then, why didn't you say something when I took you to him?"
"I realized he needed his son and his son wasn't here," the man explained. "And since he was too sick to recognize that I was not his son, I knew he needed me."
Mother Teresa used to remind us that nobody should have to die alone. Likewise, nobody should have to grieve alone or cry alone either. Or laugh alone or celebrate alone.
We are made to travel life's journey hand in hand. There is someone ready to grasp your hand today. And someone hoping you will take theirs.
Remember to hang on to one another!

Ever since my newsletter on the subject of plants and vegetable based diets, I have received numerous messages from people, many of whom still consume animal flesh, asking me to clarify my position.
I realise of course that many of you have consumed animal products all your lives, and a change to a meat-free diet would accordingly be a considerable commitment, and not one to take without due cause.
As people who have subscribed to this newsletter for some time will know, I do not usually focus exclusively on matters usually regarded as one of ethics. However, the choices we make in our diets go far beyond mere ethics. We all arrive on this planet Earth with the freewill to learn, and thereby evolve through experience, and choice of diet is an integral part of that learning and evolution experience.
However, as this subject is extremely important, and due to the fact I have received so many messages asking me to clarify and even justify my position on the subject of diet, this week I have decided to focus on it exclusively, thereby dealing with all of the issues at once.
There are numerous reasons why human beings should consume a diet consisting exclusively of vegetables, fruits and herbs of all types. I would add that I personally, for the reasons mentioned in a previous newsletter, choose to only consume "harvestable" foods that do not destroy the plant from which they originate.
That said let us now take a close look at the five main factors to consider when deciding whether to commit to a non-meat based diet.
