The Bartender

A man walked into a bar and ordered a glass of white wine. He took a sip of the wine, then tossed the remainder in the bartender's face.

Before the bartender could recover from the surprise, the man began weeping. "I'm really sorry. I keep doing that to bartenders. I can't tell you how embarrassing it is to have a compulsion like this."

Far from being angry, the bartender was sympathetic. Before long, he was suggesting that the man see a psychoanalyst about his problem.

"I happen to have the name of a psychoanalyst," the bartender said. "My brother and my wife have both been treated by him, and they say he's as good as they come." The man wrote down the name of the doctor, thanked the bartender, and left. The bartender smiled, knowing he'd done a good deed for a fellow human being.

Six months later, the man was back. "Did you do what I suggested?" the bartender asked, serving the glass of white wine.

"I certainly did," the man said. "I've been seeing the psychoanalyst twice a week." He took a sip of the wine. Then he threw the remainder into the bartender's face.

The flustered bartender wiped his face with a towel. "The doctor doesn't seem to be doing you any good," he spluttered.

"On the contrary," the man said," he's done me a world of good."

"But you just threw the wine in my face again!" the bartender exclaimed.

"Yes" the man said. "But it doesn't embarrass me anymore!"

Whatever You Do... Don't Save Any Money!

No, that's not a misprint. Even though falling interest rates are good when you want to get a loan, they are bad for people with savings accounts.

In this economy your best investment, the best place to put your money is into paying off debts. Think of it as investing in your debt because that is exactly what you are doing.

If you put $1,000 into a bank savings account earning 2%, at the end of a year you will have $1,020.

If you carry a $1,000 balance on a credit card with a 19% interest rate, and you pay the minimum monthly payments, at the end of one year you will have paid $190 in interest.

If you get $1,000 in a tax refund, small inheritance or from somewhere else you now have a choice to make. You can earn 20 bucks in a savings account or save $190 by paying off that credit card. Keep in mind that your 20 bucks is taxable income so you'll be left with $15 or so after taxes.

Do you need a savings account for emergencies? That savings account may be causing those emergencies! Think about it this way...

If you are earning money in a savings account at 2% and paying anything over 2% on your debts you are sliding backwards financially and you'll never get ahead. It's basic mathematics.

If you earn 20 bucks for five years in your savings account you'll have $100. If you pay $190 in interest on your $1,000 credit card after five years you will have paid $950 in interest charges.

In other words you have wasted, lost, burned or flushed $850 by having a savings account. ($950 - $100 = $850) OUCH!

What can you do? Pay off that credit card and use that as your emergency fund. It's not the best way to do it but it's better than earning 2% and paying anything over 2%.

So, while the stock market is on it's roller coaster and the economy is challenged... your best investment, bar none, is your debts! Get them paid off!

Salt - Evil or Necessary?

A "Great Taste No Pain Family Member" wrote to me last week and asked me to talk about salt.

Everyone knows that salt is associated with high blood pressure and increased risk of heart disease and stroke.

But let's take a little closer look at salt because people have some misunderstandings about it.

First of all, salt is not the devil--it IS NEEDED by the body.

Sodium (one of salt's components) and potassium work together to keep a normal balance of water between the cells and bodily fluids. They're needed for nerve impulses to travel like they should and for muscles to contract. They also help maintain a proper acid-alkaline balance in the blood.

Chlorine (another component of salt) assists in the formation of digestive juices and helps the body eliminate wastes.

The REAL problems with salt are:

1- What kind of salt is being eaten,
2- How much salt is eaten, and
3- Where it's coming from

What's in your shaker?

The kind of salt most people have in their shakers is processed table salt. It's addictive and extremely acid- forming to the body.

During processing, it's heated to 1,200 degrees F--that's hot enough to melt cast iron! This causes negative changes to the natural structure of the minerals, and makes it very hard for your body to break down and eliminate any excess salt.

Wow...

...Get this - For every gram of processed salt your body can't get rid of, it uses 23 times the amount of water to neutralize the salt. And all that excess fluid swishing around can lead to cellulite, arthritis, gout and kidney and bladder stones.

The salt that our ancestors ate was a salt in its naturally occuring form--potassium alkali salts, found in non-grain plants. Unlike table salt, they're not highly processed, they're alkaline to the body and have other essential minerals like potassium and calcium.

There are a few great sources of salt that enhance instead of harm your health that I give you in the Great Taste No Pain manuals. If you're using regular table salt, it would behoove you to switch to the ones I recommend. If you don't, you are harming your health in numerous ways with every bite you take.

How much is too much?

The government's current recommendation for salt intake is 3,800 milligrams (about 2/3 of a teaspoon). This is made of up 1,500 milligrams of sodium and 2,300 of chloride.

But the average American eats 4,000-6,000 milligrams of salt a day, and many even eat 10,000-15,000 milligrams a day or MORE!

Clearly we're way out of control with the salt we eat. People are addicted to it and their taste buds have become so used to it that they can't taste the natural flavors of foods. I've even observed some people in restaurants salting their food before they even take the first bite.

If you're a "auto-salt-a-holic," you can instead make dishes that are mouth wateringly delicious, scrumptious and yummy without tons of salt like I teach in Great Taste No Pain. You'll find yourself wanting and needing significantly less salt when your foods taste great just the way they are.

Where is it from?

The biggest source of salt intake for Americans is, you guessed it, processed food. Yet another reason to avoid those poisons in a box, bag, can or jar.

Not only are you potentially eating 2-3 times the amount of salt your body needs and can possibly handle, but you're getting no nutrients and creating a huge amount of acid in your body (which can lead to a whole host of diseases).

Plus, since these non-foods are created to be addicting, you'll crave the chemical creations and their empty calories over and over...as your waistline grows bigger and bigger.

Do yourself a huge favor for so many reasons--stay the he** away from processed food and instead make real food that tastes unbelievably delicious...the way I show you in Great Taste No Pain.

The Two Biggest Reasons Why Most People Will Never Make a Full-Time Income Online

It all starts when some well-meaning (yet misdirected) person encourages a budding internet entrepreneur to "start in a niche they know alot about", or base their business around "something they're passionate about"...

As horrible as it may sound - they've unknowingly sent the hopeful entrepreneur down a path of false expectations, poor results and eventually - failure. In fact, the myth of "do what you love and the money will follow" has been responsible for more failure than likely any other influence - perhaps even more so than laziness or a lack of perseverance.

Because the simple truth of the matter is that the only way you're going to make real money on the net is if your business is based around two crucial things:

1) Large Demand

2) Buyers

In other words - you aren't going to get rich selling a $15 ebook about growing square watermelons - even though that might be a great passion of yours.

The demand just isn't there. Maybe there's a few searches a day on Google for the topic, and perhaps there's some interest in the online "gardening enthusiast" communities - but you'd be hard-pressed to make even a few hundred dollars a month from ebook sales.

Similarly, you also aren't going to have a particularly easy time getting rich by building websites about some seemingly "popular" topics like humor, jokes, funny pictures and so on. And while there are a few ways to "monetize" your site (with AdSense, CPA Offers, CPM Banners, etc.), it takes literally millions of website visitors to make even just a few thousand dollars in markets like that.

The demand is huge - but the visitor value is extremely low...

Instead, if you want to make it big online - pulling down an impressive six-figure income - you need to tap into markets with tons of demand, where the majority of the visitors are valuable.

You need to capture tons of traffic that wants to buy something. If you take this approach, you'd practically have to hijack your own order links (or affiliate links) not to make a sizeable income.

In fact - did you know that some affiliates make several thousand dollars daily just by promoting a single product in hot markets? (Just imagine what the merchant is making...)

In some markets there's actually so much demand that the vendors are quite literally selling over a thousand units - or more - per day. Digital products, with practically zero overhead/delivery cost.

But it all comes back to tapping into valuable demand. In most cases, it takes no extra effort or "skill" to market to a valuable market than it does to struggle along with something you're passionate about.

These two factors - demand and buying traffic - are what seperate the "wannabe" marketers from the millionaires. Because there's no real secret - you just need to sell what thousands of people are already buying.

The ball is now officially in your court. Are you tapping into markets with massive, valuable demand?
