Shortcuts.
Sure things.
Once in a lifetime deals.
Dream lives.
If you have ever wondered why most people who were born to
weathly parents can't make it in life or why nearly a third

...Failure Self-Image.
If you didn't gradually "earn" the big bucks, you don't
know how to handle it. In the priviledged kids' world, Mom
and Dad's money was always plentiful, like picking apples
off the tree. Life, however, demands that you be trained
to get and keep the things you want.
For those who get the "winning ticket," it's like suddenly
finding yourself behind the wheel of an 18 wheeler... no
idea what to do, so spending sprees, giving it away,
quitting jobs, treating people differently, travel. All
gone. Broke. Bankrupt.
Now, to clarify, that doesn't mean that financial failure
means you have the "self-image" of a failure.
You could be broke, but have an extraordinary level of
health, hence, you have at least two (many more, actually)
self-images - as a person who doesn't have much money AND
as a healthy person.
You may never have more than a few dollars in your bank
account, but be a great martial artist, a super dad, a
great baseball coach, a terrific landscaper, a safe driver.
So those are some of the "images" that you hold of yourself.
Self-Esteem is different than self-image.
Self-esteem is tied more to general confidence (and lack
of it) in our ability to handle the basic challenges of
life and the feelings of being worthy of and deserving (or
not) the benefits of your efforts and your right to be
successful and happy. That is a topic handled by our

But you can have hundreds of self-images.
They come from many experiences, but I've found them to
primarily come from your accomplishments, failures and
daily habits.
You can see yourself as a "great" baseball player... SO
good that you make it to the Major Leagues. But once you
are there, you may find that you are just average. What
was once easy playing against lesser skilled players is now
very difficult.
So now your image may get downgraded to just "pretty good"
baseball player.
You could feel that you are a terrific father.
But if some things happen between you and your kids and it
goes on for awhile, you may begin to believe that you are
actually a bad father.
This year, you may feel you are a good student... Next
year, after a series of decisions that took you away from
your studies, you may feel like an idiot, dumber than a rock.
Your self-images are always in flux.
So just because you define yourself as a smoker ("I am a
smoker") today, doesn't mean that you will always see
yourself as one. You can change your images relatively
quickly.
But to change your unthinking, unconscious, instantaneous
actions and responses, you MUST hold the image of yourself
as that of a "success"... meaning that if you want to be a
non-smoker, for example, or great at something no matter
what level you are playing at (like Major Leagues), then
the image that you have of yourself must be that of someone
who succeeds always under any and all circumstances.
But most people see themselves as only "pretty good" at a
bunch of things.
This means they hold beliefs like, "I'm a good driver...
except on crowded city streets at rush hour." Or, "I'm a
healthy eater... but I don't like most vegetables."
Accidents and illness may be just around the corner!
And so the trouble is that "average" people never get
schooled in the mental game of success.
What I'm getting at today is that you cannot and will not
ever enjoy high levels of continued success at something
unless you have the image of yourself as successful in that
area of life.
If you want to be a great investor, a great salesperson, a
great carpenter, a great plumber... if you want to be
strong, healthy, attractive, to have a beautiful home, to
attract your ideal mate, to have caring friendships...
...then you must hold the clear image of yourself as
successful in those roles.
That doesn't happen in a day.
Just reading a book won't do it for you.
And you can't do that if you are constantly imagining
failures, if your standards are low, if you don't enjoy the
tasks, if you can't get yourself motivated, if you don't
constantly dwell on your past successes.
You have to constantly think to yourself, "I am great at
____."
"This is who I am... a success."
"I never settle for second best."
"I always do the best I'm capable of."
"There's no sense in doing something half way."
"I can do better."
"I wouldn't even dream of putting that junk in my body."
"Inhale smoke? Have you completely lost your mind?"
These are the beliefs and self-talk of people who win...
who are rarely in danger of making stupid and careless
mistakes.

Hi Mike,
I purchased Eating For Excellent Health Now!,
Setting & Achieving Goals Now!
and Real Self-Esteem Now! about three months
ago. I have battled depression and eating issues for 10
years or so and was and have been at the end of my tether
for so long. I have been to everyone, read all the books,
tried-all the diets, been to 'Louise Hay' weekends etc.
Really, I had tried everything , not just for my benefit
but for my 4 children and 3 step-children's' benefit, for
my ex-husband and my husband now. It all becomes so
difficult to know when you are doing the right thing and if
you have tried hard enough. A complex mix of too much
information and anxiety over whether you have the right
information. Guilt, anxiety and depression all roll into
one and you have no idea what to attempt next.
Fortunately while trolling the Internet looking at 'self
help' sites, I stumbled over your site. And, I must admit,
read it with trepidation and that feeling of exhilaration
that 'This might be the one!' and also the other feeling of
'Here I go again!' But I persevered and made the judgment
as to what to tackle first. I went with the eating as that
always seems to drag me down the worst. If I could get a
handle on that and feel better with my heath maybe then I
can work on other areas.
So the Eating for Excellent Health CD has been a part of
my life for three months now.
In the car, in bed, on walks and at the computer, just
quietly burbling away into my ears.
And, yes, it does make a difference. Not earth shattering,
no dramatic w8 loss in just a week, but a quiet change
as to how I view food and my relationship with it. I now
choose more healthy options, I can now do without, I have
better dinners, even when in a rush, I am drinking more
water.
My health is definitely improved, quietly with no fuss. So
much so that I have started in on Setting and Achieving
Goals. I didn't want to muddy the waters by listening to it
too soon, but I am ready now to make more moves. My family
is big and we have a lot of stress and strains trying to
accommodate the nine of us in the sharing and caring way
that I know we all deserve. Family loyalties are put to the
test constantly and I want to make a change for the better.
That said, I still dip into a slight depression each
winter (Just coming out of winter over here in New Zealand)
and I feel that having the Depression Cd to listen to
before the next season would be a boon. I envisage having
the self esteem CDs up and running by then too. Constant
bombardment of positive and encouraging messages, how could
anyone fail with that happening to you? It is like having
my own personal guardian angel perched on my shoulder ready
to gently nudge me in the right direction. Bliss!
